Working with a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) is beneficial to patients and physicians. People value the use of their hands; therefore any loss of function through injury or disease can devastate lives. A Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) offers the public assurance that the therapist treating them has achieved the highest recognition of competency in the profession. Leah Crull of Certified Hand Center has renewed the distinguished CHT designation after completing all requirements in July 2014.

The Hand Therapy Certification Commission, Inc., (HTCC), the recognized specialists in hand therapy certification worldwide, is proud to announce that Leah Crull has renewed her credential as a Certified Hand Therapist. Leah has been credentialed since 1999 after meeting strict eligibility requirements and passing the rigorous Hand Therapy Certification Examination. Certification is granted for five years. In order to renew and maintain this certification at the end of the five years period, CHTs must demonstrate current knowledge in the profession through work experience and professional development activities, or by taking the examination again.  There are approximately 5600 individuals worldwide that hold this marked designation.

Leah is an occupational therapist at Certified Hand Center. She has 29 years of service.

Leah Crull Leah Crull, Certified Hand Therapist in Occupational Therapy, attended the 13th Annual Wisconsin Hand Experience sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The College of Health Sciences, Outreach Office presented an intermediate to advanced level course on Tendons: The Foundation and Future.  The course focused on anatomy and biomechanics of extensor and flexor tendons, the latest surgical interventions, grafts and salvage procedures.  Post-operative protocols were included.  The course also included the latest research and future trends related to tendons. Rockford, IL — May 2012 Leah Crull & Karen Weber Certified Hand Therapists' in Occupational Therapy, attended the 13th Annual Wisconsin Hand Experience sponsored by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The College of Health Sciences, Outreach Office presented an intermediate to advanced level course focusing on tendinopathy and other soft tissue conditions of the upper extremity. Evidence to support surgical, non surgical and therapeutic approaches to treatment of these conditions including new and future trends. Leah and Karens conference learning outcomes included; development of tendinitis, identify the role of core stability and proper posture. Discussions on conservative and post surgery therapy intervention for elbow ligament injuries and distal bicep repair. Leah and Karen discussed traditional surgical techniques, collagenase injections, aponeurotomy and recent changes in the medical management of Dupuytren's disease. Leah Crull & Karen Weber, Certified Hand Therapists’ in Occupational Therapy, attended the 2011 Wisconsin Hand Experience conference.  This was the 12th annual ASHT (American Society of Hand Therapists) joint venture conference with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Leah & Karen sharpened their skills for evaluating and treating peripheral nerve compressions in the elbow, forearm and wrist. The course combined lecture and lab to provide Leah & Karen with the most up to date information on evaluation and treatment tools for today’s patients.
